About Founder David W. Mills

Compassion by Design Founder

Compassion by Design Founder, David W Mills, is a two time church planter with a passion to help churches successfully win the un-churched and establish themselves with credibility and impact that surpasses traditional outreach methods. This approach is clearly “outside the box” when it comes to how we grow churches—but uses approaches that have built in community credibility and place the church leaders and congregation face-to-face with those they seek to reach.

With a quarter century of church planting, pastoral ministry and non profit leadership, David and wife, Dawn, work to integrate the best of missional church life with what they learned in the faith based initiative. They believe that effective community service is not just for sophisticated charities, but the resources, grants and best practices fit into the life of healthy new churches and churches that are making the turn toward missional. They are residents of the National Capital Area and are proud parents of four children.

David has two master degrees, one in counseling and one in public administration, and has provided training and coaching to more than 10,000 organizations as well as securing more than 40 million dollars in public funds for community organizations. He is quick to say that it is “not about the money,” as he works to equip the faith community for effective and well-resourced service.

But how can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it?
